3 for 3 at 6w1d

I guess we forgot to tell those embryos they were supposed to be poor quality.

A: HR 116 BPM, CRL 0.38cm, 6w1d
B: HR 121 BPM, CRL 0.44cm, 6w1d
C: HR 117 BPM, CRL 0.46cm, 6w1d

I go back in 2 weeks to see how they are all growing and measuring. If nature doesn't take care of things, I will selectively reduce. As hard as that will be for me after wanting and trying to conceive for so long, I feel that will be the best option for me and my family. A twin pregnancy and twins are hard enough for me to imaging juggling and handling, especially in the early years, with an older (but still very young) child. I never thought I would have to make such a decision and tried my entire life to prevent, but I am pro choice for a reason. Sometimes, you just never know the choice a woman will need to make for herself and her family and why she has to make it.

I am a tad surprised on the one hand since statistically speaking triplets were pretty unlikely. I really didn't think all three would make it. But, I am finding it all kind of ironic at the moment.

Yes, my ultrasound was supposed to be on Monday, but my schedule changed and I was able to get in today. So, surprise! surprise! surprise!

I continue to think and pray for my cycle buddy. Her pregnancy wasn't viable and she had a d&c this morning. The prayers were just not enough. My heart is breaking for her as she has tried harder and longer and more than anyone I have met for a child. Life and conception is just not fair. I wish, I wish, that all of us who struggle down this path didn't have to and ultimately end up with the family and child of their dreams.

Deb, I haven't commented here before but I wanted to say both congratulations and that I completely understand and support what you are feeling. As a mom of twins I don't know if I could do triplets and a toddler. In a way, I hope nature takes control so that you don't have to make that tough decision.

A big Congratulations. I've been following your story and I truly feel like you will have a great outcome. I had twins in 06 and the best book that I read on a multiple pregnancy was Dr. Barbara Luke and Tamara Eberlein's book, "When you are expecting twins, triplets, or Quads..." It had great advice, especially about nutrition. In a nutshell, they said to eat TONS of protein all day long and drink lots of water. I had an uneventful pregnancy and large, full term babies. I ate so much every day it wasn't even funny. I actually got tired of eating and I'm no skinny minnie.

Wow! I was just checking over here mostly to see how your friend was doing and all, didnt expect ultrasound results.

I am thrilled for you that you are pregnant and that the heart rates and sizes all look good, though I am so sorry you have to make such a tough decision. I always wanted twins myself and both times I got pregnant I was disappointed there was only one baby, but if I had had three in there, I dont think I could handle it either...Good luck to you and like the others, I hope that nature takes care of this dilemma itself. Keep us updated!

HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!! I'm sitting here and keep saying "OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!" My mother keeps asking me what the heck I'm crying about. I'm absolutely beside myself thrilled for you. I know that you have to make a difficult choice but honestly, what an incredible blessing! I've tole my sister (who just had a miscarriage doing her first IVF cycle) that there is hope and that 2 of my friends from Online who are doing donor egg insem are now pregnant with multiples :) Congratulations to your ever growing family :)

Deb, a fellow SMC here, who has a toddler and is pregnant with twins. I completely understand your dilemma, and would support a reduction. I am surprised at how much harder a twin pregnancy has been....can't even imagine three in there! I am so happy for you and Max, and wish you the best for 2008.

CONGRATS Deb! JennP from SMC here...As a fellow SMC to a set of twins and triplets, I COMPLETEYLY understand your decision. Twins are just a BLAST and I do find them much more manageable than triplets! Only the best to you.

CONGRATS again!

Oh my, Deb. This is big scary stuff. While it'll be bittersweet, I hope that nature helps you out on this and you don't have to go through SR. But I understand the reasons behind it. However, such an awful decision when you've tried and hoped for so long. But, congrats on heart beats!

I'm just now catching up on blogs, and what a surprise. Congratulations on the healthy hearbeats! I'm sorry you are faced with the possibility of SR, and I hope that nature does decide to help you out.
