Max: I want too much mommy. I like too much.

*******************************

Doc on final exam of N yesterday: Don't be surprised if you end up with a few hospitalizations the first year. That's common with preemies. Winter is coming. Just keep the twins away from pretty much everyone.

Me: I'll do my best. I do have a 3 year old in preschool.

Doc: *

* She had nothing to say about that. Just gave me a look. And, that was that.

Edited: Wait, I forgot. After the look, she was quiet for a few minutes doing and listening for whatever they listen and look for on these exams, and then she says...well, make sure he washes his hands.... a lot.

And, all I could think about was how she must never have had a 3 year old or she has and has forgotten or she has and remembers all too well and just didn't know what else to say. I just couldn't get into the fact that Max had been sneezing and now has a runny nose.

Me thinks it may be a long winter health wise. For me, I'm going to try not to worry too much and just do the best I can to keep everyone safe and healthy in a less than ideal situation. And, the twins are on the list to get a very expensive flu type vaccine monthly (that begins with an S, but name is escaping me at the moment). Maybe that will help. Or, maybe we have more hospitalizations in our future.

My kids caught everything until their teacher put a bottle of hand sanitizer at the door of the classroom. Every kid had to use it EVERY time they entered that class and would you believe that it worked beautifully? Colds were down 60%. Donate the sanitizer and suggest this, for teachers hate the flu season too. Most have strong immune systems but there are always new teachers who have to develop the immunity.

Just FYI but preemies born earlier than 32 weeks get Synagis shots every month during the winter until April. Synagis helps prevent RSV (respiratory syncitial virus). It's not the flu. Unfortunately they can't get the flu shot until age 6 mos. Flu shots should be available until about March. I would definitely get them that if you can.

The hand sanitizer is a great idea. Hopefully it can help prevent Max from bringing in any more colds into the household.

I will be sure to definitely not bring A around if he's sick. In fact, he's sick now and I had thought of stopping by tomorrow to say 'hi'. I am glad I read your post b/c it brought me back to the reality of your preemies. So, we won't be by this weekend.

Glad N is home! I hope the med keeps the seizures at bay.

My son had these shots(synagis.com)and it helped him stay healthy or it was the fact that our house was like a surgical ward, but RSV can be a really bad bug. Glad to hear your sweet baby's are home again.
